About Public Benefit Finder
Find program information by need or state. We summarize application steps and link to the agency responsible for each program. The site is free to use.
Why we exist
Information about food, rent, utilities and other assistance is spread across many agencies and websites. This site organizes program information by state and type of help.
How we write our guides
- Every guide is written from the program agency rules and agency sites.
- Each guide names the agency that runs the program and links to its application.
- We show the date we last checked each guide, and update guides when rules change.
What we are not
Public Benefit Finder is an independent information site. We are not affiliated with a government agency, do not take applications and do not decide eligibility. The agency that runs each program handles applications and makes eligibility decisions.
Be cautious about application fees
This site does not charge for access. The program agency can explain any costs associated with applying. Be cautious of anyone who promises approval or faster processing for a fee.
