ALL Kids (Alabama CHIP)

ALL Kids provides low-cost health insurance for eligible Alabama children and teens who do not qualify for Medicaid. The shared application checks which coverage program can serve the child.

Who can apply

['Children must be under 19, live in Alabama and meet the income rules. Citizenship or eligible immigration status is also required.', 'ADPH lists exclusions for children with other health coverage, those in an institution, and children covered by or eligible for Medicaid. Submit an application for an actual determination rather than relying on a screening estimate.']

What help is available

Coverage includes preventive visits, immunizations, sick visits, prescriptions, dental and vision care, hospital care and behavioral health services. ALL Kids uses the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama provider network.

Documents to prepare

Prepare birth dates and Social Security numbers for household members applying for coverage, household income from all sources, and current or recent insurance details. Ask customer service if a requested record is unavailable.

How to get started

  1. Use ADPH’s Apply Now page to reach the shared ALL Kids and Medicaid application.
  2. Complete the household, income and insurance questions and save the submission confirmation.
  3. Respond to the eligibility worker’s requests. If the child does not qualify for ALL Kids or Medicaid, the online application can be forwarded to the Health Insurance Marketplace.

After applying

Read the decision and enrollment instructions before arranging care. Confirm the child’s effective date, network providers and any premium or copayment. For questions or a contact update, call 1-888-373-5437.
