Colorado SNAP (Food Assistance)

Colorado SNAP provides food benefits through a Colorado Quest EBT card. Your county human services department reviews the application and determines eligibility.

Who can apply

Low-income households may qualify, including working families and people receiving other assistance. Income, household composition and applicable work or student rules matter. The state’s overview contains older tables; use the county’s current assessment.

What help is available

Approved households receive a monthly food benefit. Participating produce-incentive programs may stretch eligible purchases, but store participation varies.

Documents to prepare

  • Recent earned and unearned income; bookkeeping records for self-employment.
  • Identity records accepted by the county.
  • Medical expense records if a household member is older or disabled, when relevant to the calculation.

How to get started

  1. Apply through a state channel

Use the PEAK or MyCOBenefits links on the SNAP page. Paper applications can be mailed, faxed or delivered to the county office.

  2. Complete county follow-up

Watch for interview calls or notices. Upload requested verification to PEAK or MyCOBenefits, or submit it to the county.

  3. Explain urgent food needs

Tell the county if food and cash are running out so it can assess expedited processing. Ask where to get food while the application is pending.

After applying

Keep the decision and interview notices. After approval, protect the card and PIN; the state recommends freezing the card when it is not in use.
