Who can apply
Connecticut households must meet the season’s financial and heating-assistance rules. A local Community Action Agency can explain how household members, income and heating arrangements are assessed.
What help is available
Assistance usually goes to the utility or fuel vendor. Deliverable-fuel households may qualify for additional deliveries; related shutoff protection or equipment support has separate conditions.
Documents to prepare
- Income and household information required for the current season.
- Heating bill or vendor/account details.
- Address and rental information, plus urgent shutoff or low-fuel notices.
How to get started
Find the application instructions
Use the CEAP How to Apply page for the current online portal and local intake options.
Prepare household and heating records
Ask the Community Action Agency for its current checklist and explain whether you heat with a utility or delivered fuel.
Apply before the current deadline
The state lists May 31, 2027 as the last eligibility-application date. Explain any urgent fuel or shutoff problem rather than assuming normal processing can address it in time.
After applying
CEAP is an annual benefit: apply again each season. Ask the agency about fuel authorization deadlines, which can differ from the eligibility-application deadline.

They are usually paid to the utility or fuel vendor.
Does approval continue next winter?
No. CEAP requires a new application each year.
Is the fuel-delivery deadline the same as the application deadline?
