Who can apply
Financial and family eligibility requirements apply. A previous time-limit closure does not establish current eligibility.
What help is available
The adult lifetime limit increased from 48 to 60 months in April 2025. Some families previously closed at 48 months may reapply for additional months.
Documents to prepare
- Identity, address and household information.
- Income, resources and child or pregnancy records requested by MDHHS.
- Information about barriers to participation.
How to get started
Submit the application
Use MDHHS’s FIP page to reach MI Bridges, a printable form or your local office.
Complete the case review
Provide evidence and explain any previous FIP benefits.
Confirm participation rules
Ask about employment services, support needs and exemptions before missing an assigned activity.
After applying
Keep case notices and appointment dates. Reapplying after a time-limit change is a new eligibility review.
