Who can apply
Low income is one part of the assessment. DCF also considers the relevant coverage category, including children, pregnancy, parents or caretaker relatives, and age or disability. Family members can receive different decisions.
What help is available
Approved coverage helps pay for medical care. Read the approval and health-plan information to understand the coverage dates, participating providers and enrollment arrangements.
Documents to prepare
- Prepare household members’ names, dates of birth and contact details.
- Have current earnings, benefit-income and existing insurance information available.
- Supply identity or status records when DCF requests them; use its notice as your checklist.
How to get started

Use MyACCESS or ask a DCF Family Resource Center for application help. Identify each person who needs medical assistance.
Submit and answer requests
Review your application before submitting. DCF does not require a Medicaid interview, but it can request additional information.
Read the decision
Keep your confirmation and check notices. Review each applicant’s result and any instructions for choosing or contacting a health plan.
After applying
Keep DCF’s contact information current and respond to renewal requests. Before making a routine appointment, confirm that the provider accepts your coverage.
