Florida WIC

Florida WIC enrollment starts with a county clinic appointment. The clinic reviews income and nutrition needs for the person applying, rather than treating a food-benefit application as automatic WIC enrollment.

Who can apply

WIC serves eligible pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding applicants, infants and children younger than five. Florida residency, financial eligibility and the clinic’s nutrition assessment matter.

What help is available

WIC offers a supplemental food package, nutrition education and breastfeeding support. Clinic staff explain the approved foods and how to use the benefits.

Documents to prepare

  • Identification for you and each infant or child applying.
  • A current record with your name and street address.
  • Household income records, or evidence of SNAP, Medicaid or TCA participation.
  • Available medical-referral and child immunization records.

How to get started

  1. Find the county clinic

Use the Florida WIC clinic directory or call 800-342-3556.

  2. Arrange certification

Ask which applicants need to attend and what records your clinic needs. Confirm any accommodation or language help before the appointment.

  3. Complete the assessment

Clinic staff check eligibility and nutrition needs, then explain your benefits and follow-up appointments.

After applying

Use the clinic’s food-list and card guidance when shopping. Contact the clinic for a lost card, changes in household circumstances or questions about the next appointment.

Common questions

Can SNAP or Medicaid help with the income check?

Florida says evidence of SNAP, Medicaid or TCA can establish income eligibility, so bring your enrollment record. Other WIC checks still apply.

Can I enroll through MyACCESS alone?

Contact a county WIC clinic for its certification appointment; MyACCESS food assistance is a different program.

Do I need a medical referral?

Bring one if available. Ask the clinic about anything missing rather than canceling the appointment on your own.
