FloridaLawHelp.org (Eviction & Legal Help)

FloridaLawHelp helps people find civil legal information and legal-aid intake routes. If you have an eviction notice or court papers, tell the provider about the deadline when requesting help.

Who can apply

Each legal-aid organization decides whether it can accept a case based on its service area, eligibility and the legal issue. Reading a guide or submitting an intake form does not create lawyer representation.

What help is available

The site offers legal information, a provider directory and links to online intake. Some listed organizations accept applications online; others must be contacted directly.

Documents to prepare

  • Keep the lease, notices and court papers together.
  • Prepare a short timeline and your county of residence.
  • Have rent-payment records and relevant landlord correspondence ready for the provider.

How to get started

  1. Find the relevant provider

Use Apply for Help and select an organization serving your county and issue.

  2. Describe the urgent deadline

State the date on any court paper or eviction notice. Ask how you will be contacted and whether other help is available if the case cannot be accepted.

  3. Confirm what assistance is offered

Do not assume the intake submission covers a court response. Ask explicitly whether a lawyer has accepted the case and what you must do next.

After applying

Keep copies of submissions and continue checking court deadlines. Consult the provider about your specific documents rather than treating general website information as personalized legal advice.

Common questions

Do all providers use the same application?

No. FloridaLawHelp lists several intake options and a separate directory for providers without online applications.

Does an online request mean I have a lawyer?

No. The provider must assess the request and confirm the assistance it can offer.

What should I send about an eviction?

Have the lease, notice and court documents ready and identify any response or hearing deadline.
