Who can apply
Kansas families may qualify through work, approved education or training, TANF activities, teen-parent schooling or other specified needs. Children generally must be under 13; exceptions exist.
What help is available
DCF issues childcare benefits on the Kansas Benefits Card. The family plan identifies each child, provider, benefit and family copay; assistance may not cover the full provider charge.
Documents to prepare
Prepare adult identity, household income and children’s birth/citizenship evidence. Include the work or education schedule and provider information requested for the childcare plan.
How to get started
Apply through the DCF Self-Service Portal or request a paper application at 888-369-4777. Respond to requests for additional information.
Choose a DCF-enrolled provider. Child Care Aware of Kansas, 877-678-2548, can help identify providers; ask about openings and any uncovered charges before signing an agreement.
After applying
Read the approved family plan and reporting instructions. Coordinate payments with the provider and inform DCF when the arrangement changes.
