Montana LIEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program)

Montana LIHEAP helps eligible households with heating expenses. Heating-season applications run October1 through April30.

Who can apply

Income and resources affect eligibility. Homeowners and renters can apply; existing SNAP, SSI or TANF may establish eligibility.

What help is available

Assistance supports qualifying home-energy costs. Ask the local office about urgent heating-system problems.

Documents to prepare

  • Household income and resource records.
  • Heating account and fuel information.
  • Requested identity and residence proof.

How to get started

  1. Find the office

Use DPHHS local or Tribal office links.

  2. Complete combined intake

Fill the LIHEAP and Weatherization application, then print and deliver or mail it as instructed.

  3. Explain emergencies

Contact the office directly about loss of heat.

After applying

Check status with the office. Submission alone does not prevent disconnection.
