Nevada TANF (Cash Assistance)

Nevada TANF provides cash and related support for qualifying families with dependent children. Access Nevada is the state’s online application and case-management route.

Who can apply

DSS considers family circumstances, financial eligibility and the relevant program category. Parents and non-parent relatives caring for dependent children may be considered; work-related requirements depend on the case.

What help is available

Cash assistance can be accompanied by employment-related case management and support such as childcare or transportation. The NEON category serves households with a work-eligible individual.

Documents to prepare

  • Household income and identity information.
  • Children’s ages and caregiver relationship details.
  • Housing and other requested financial records.
  • Employment circumstances and evidence supporting an exemption when relevant.

How to get started

  1. Request cash assistance

Use Access Nevada and identify each family member involved.

  2. Complete the eligibility review

Respond to DSS interview or document instructions and explain non-parent caregiving or other relevant circumstances.

  3. Discuss the program category

Ask which cash program applies and what employment or support-service plan is required.

After applying

Read reporting and participation notices. Tell the worker about barriers such as unavailable childcare and ask how to document them; do not assume the same obligations apply to every family.
