Who can apply
Anyone seeking resource information can ask for a referral. Each organization receiving the referral assesses its own eligibility and available assistance.
What help is available
The service connects callers to health, human-service and community organizations. It does not award benefits or replace a provider’s intake.
Documents to prepare
- Your county, town or ZIP code.
- A description of the need and urgency.
- Details of agencies already contacted.
How to get started
Check coverage
Use the provider’s statewide coverage map rather than assuming one center serves every county.
Call the appropriate center
North Central publishes 505-245-1735, Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m., closed major holidays. Dialing 211 is another starting route.
Follow the referral
Confirm location, current intake and needed documents with the receiving organization.
After applying
Ask for alternatives if the referral cannot help. Keep the provider name and reason for the unsuccessful contact to support the next search.

Common questions
Is every NM center open around the clock?
Do not assume so. North Central publishes weekday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. hours; check the center serving you.
Why does my county matter?
The provider publishes a coverage map with regional contacts.
Does a referral approve cash assistance?
No. The receiving agency makes its own decision.
