Unemployment Compensation (PA L&I)

Pennsylvania UC provides temporary income support after qualifying job loss or reduced hours. The state evaluates wage history and separation circumstances.

Who can apply

You need qualifying wages and credit weeks, a qualifying separation and continuing ability and availability for suitable work. A financial determination alone does not resolve every eligibility issue.

What help is available

Eligible weekly payments replace part of earnings. An initial claim and weekly certifications are separate steps.

Documents to prepare

  • Identity and contact details.
  • Employer, employment dates and wage information.
  • Separation explanation and any requested records.

How to get started

  1. File the claim

Use UC benefits or call 888-313-7284 during the published service hours.

  2. Complete verification

Follow identity and information requests in the dashboard.

  3. Certify weekly

File for each week you request benefits, including the required waiting-week certification.

After applying

Read dashboard notices and keep accurate earnings and work-search records. For face-to-face help, ask about UC Connect appointments.
