Who can apply
Losing work through no fault of your own may qualify you. DWD also reviews earnings and continuing eligibility. Its monetary determination describes potential benefits; it does not itself approve the claim.
What help is available
Eligible claimants receive weekly payments. DWD decides the award and whether any issues concerning the claim must be investigated.
Documents to prepare
- A valid email address for your Uplink username.
- Identification, address, Social Security number and contact details.
- Your last employer’s contact details, employment dates and reason for separation.
- Bank details if you choose direct deposit.
How to get started
File promptly
Read the claimant handbook and use the filing route on DWD’s application page.
File weekly vouchers
Begin the week after applying. Report earnings and keep filing while a claim issue or appeal is pending.
Maintain work-search records
DWD currently requires two qualifying activities each week unless a waiver applies. Keep supporting records.
After applying
Check your Uplink claimant page for requests and decisions. DWD can review work-search evidence; its guidance says to retain confirmations for six months.
