Who can apply
['Eligibility depends on sufficient covered wages, the circumstances of job separation and continuing weekly requirements.', 'You generally must be able and available for work and conduct required job-search activity unless the state recognizes an exemption.']What help is available
The state determines temporary unemployment payments from the claim. A wage calculation does not guarantee payment for a week with an unresolved eligibility issue.
Documents to prepare
Prepare personal identity information and employment history for the last 18 months. Keep separation records and follow any identity verification request. Save job-search confirmations as activities occur.
How to get started

- Register in Maryland Workforce Exchange and complete required profile and résumé steps.
- Unless exempt, record three weekly search activities, including one direct employer contact, in MWE before submitting the weekly BEACON certification.
After applying
Continue the weekly steps while a decision or payment is pending, as instructed. MWE and BEACON have different credentials. Read determinations and use the stated appeal deadline if you disagree.
