Unemployment Insurance (Nevada DETR)

Nevada unemployment claims now use the NUI Claimant Self Service route. The older ui.nv.gov address redirects to the current NUI landing page.

Who can apply

DETR reviews wage history, separation circumstances and continuing eligibility. Claimants must follow the work-search and availability instructions applying to their case.

What help is available

Approved benefits provide temporary income. Establishing a claim and requesting payment for a particular week are separate actions.

Documents to prepare

  • Identity and Social Security details.
  • Employer names, employment dates and separation information.
  • Records of earnings for each claimed week.
  • Work-search documentation and agency correspondence.

How to get started

  1. Use Claimant Self Service

Go through the NUI landing page and choose Employees and Claimants, not the employer service.

  2. Complete the initial claim

Review the current DETR how-to resources and respond to account or eligibility questions.

  3. Request weekly payment

Complete the weekly certification and maintain the required work-search record. The initial application alone does not request each week’s payment.

After applying

Check messages and decisions in the claimant account. Report work and earnings accurately and ask DETR about a disputed determination or missed certification.

Common questions

Should I log in to Employer Self Service?

No. Individual applicants use Claimant Self Service.

Does opening a claim request all weekly payments?

No. The claimant handbook describes a separate weekly certification and payment request.

Should I keep evidence of job searches?

Yes. DETR’s work-search guidance says records may be requested for verification.
