Who can apply
NH Employment Security reviews covered earnings, separation circumstances and ongoing ability, availability and work-search requirements. Explain any severance or continued employment rather than assuming it has no effect.
What help is available
Approved benefits provide temporary income based on the claim determination. A claim record alone does not request payment for every future week.
Documents to prepare
- Identity and Social Security details.
- Employer names, employment dates and separation information.
- Weekly earnings and other payments to report.
- Work-search records and filing confirmations.
How to get started
Open the claimant application
Use NHUIS claimant login or the File a Claim link through NH Employment Security.
Complete the claim
Answer the employment and payment questions and save the confirmation number.
File weekly
Report the agency’s Sunday–Saturday calendar week. Follow continuing eligibility and work-search instructions for your case.
After applying
Read determinations and any appeal instructions promptly. If you resume work then become unemployed again within the same claim year, ask about reopening rather than automatically starting a duplicate claim.

Common questions
Is weekly reporting based on my employer’s payroll week?
The state handbook says to use its Sunday–Saturday claim week.
Should I keep filing confirmations?
Yes. The handbook says completed initial and weekly claims produce confirmation numbers.
What if I receive severance?
Report it and ask NHES about its effect; the handbook says filing timing can depend on separation pay.
