Unemployment Insurance (Tennessee)

Tennessee unemployment uses Unemployment Claimant e-Services through Jobs4TN. Weekly certifications and required work-search activities begin while the claim is being decided.

Who can apply

The agency assesses covered earnings, separation circumstances and ability, availability and search for work. Reduced hours can also be reviewed.

What help is available

Approved eligible weeks provide temporary payments. A monetary determination estimates possible benefits and is not an approval.

Documents to prepare

  • Identity and employment records.
  • Employer and separation details.
  • Weekly earnings and search records.

How to get started

  1. Open claimant e-Services

Use Jobs4TN’s File for Unemployment route.

  2. Answer fact-finding

Check the Summary screen and Action Center for questionnaires.

  3. Certify weekly

Report the prior week’s circumstances and the state’s required work-search activities.

After applying

Keep certifying while awaiting the result and monitor nonmonetary decisions. Read notices about waiting-week and payment arrangements.
