Who can apply
['The state overview requires household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. The local agency checks the current limit for your household.', 'The program emphasizes older residents, people with disabilities and families with children. Participants must agree to the minor alterations identified through the assessment.']What help is available
Trained professionals inspect the home, carry out an energy audit and identify cost-effective improvements. Health and safety checks are part of this process; the audit determines the work, rather than the applicant choosing a renovation budget.
Documents to prepare
Ask intake staff about income verification, residency and authority to approve work on the home. If you rent, ask what permission is needed from the owner before scheduling an assessment. Gather the requested records before your appointment.
How to get started
- Find your county in ADECA’s weatherization region list.
- Contact the listed weatherization agency to request intake. ADECA does not accept household applications.
- Provide its requested eligibility records and arrange access for the assessment if selected.
After applying
Ask about the waiting list and assessment appointment. Agree with the agency on access, permissions and approved measures before work begins. Do not hire a contractor expecting the program to reimburse an independently arranged repair.
