Who can apply
IHCDA accepts income-eligible households or households deemed eligible for EAP. The home must be safe to weatherize, and previous program work can affect eligibility. The local provider checks both household and property conditions.
What help is available
An energy audit determines improvements such as insulation, air sealing or heating-system measures. This is not a general renovation or emergency repair program.
Documents to prepare
Ask the provider for its checklist. Prepare income information, your address and property details; renters should ask about owner permission.
How to get started
Find the local provider
Use the county map or mobile county selector on IHCDA’s weatherization page.
Complete eligibility intake
The provider reviews your request; eligible homes can be placed on a waiting list.
Arrange the energy audit
Approved improvements follow the audit, installation and a final check.
After applying
Keep inspection appointments and the work record. Raise concerns with the provider first; use the decision letter’s appeal instructions for a denial or deferral.
