The assessment can identify air sealing, insulation, heating, hot-water, lighting and safety measures. The dwelling’s condition and program rules determine the approved work.
Documents to prepare
Prepare income records or qualifying-benefit proof and information about ownership, tenancy and utility use. Ask the local agency for its checklist and any landlord permission requirements.
How to get started
- Use the local-agency directory on DHCD’s weatherization page.
- Submit the agency’s application; benefit participation does not remove this step.
- After eligibility review, arrange the energy inspection and discuss the recommended work.
After applying
Ask about priorities and the waiting list. Confirm the approved scope and final inspection. If a property condition prevents work, ask what must be corrected and whether another repair program can help.
