Weatherization Assistance Program (West Virginia)

West Virginia weatherization improves energy efficiency for eligible households through local Community Action Agencies. Services cover all 55 counties, with a waitlist for approved applicants.

Who can apply

['West Virginia households with income no more than 200% of federal poverty guidelines.', 'The dwelling must also meet building eligibility requirements.', 'Priority considers energy burden and household members who are older, disabled or children.']

What help is available

Home energy efficiency work selected for the property. Assistance is provided through an agency rather than a state cash payment to the resident.

Documents to prepare

Prepare household income and address information, property ownership or lease details and energy bills. Ask the assigned agency for the current documentation period and any owner consent needed.

How to get started

  1. Use the state weatherization page to find the provider for your county.
  2. Follow its Apply Now link for the LITT application, or contact the local agency.
  3. Complete eligibility review and arrange the dwelling assessment.

After applying

Ask where you are on the waitlist and what property issues need attention before work can proceed. Keep the assessment and agency’s contact details. The state office funds agencies and does not directly process household work requests.
